Dr. Laufer has over 30 years of experience as a breast lift surgeon and has earned the Best of the Bay Nip and Tuck Award for Plastic Surgeons in Tampa Bay, Fl. Firm breasts are a sign of youth in women. As women experience child birth and hit middle age, breasts can start to appear slightly deflated and hang lower. Regardless of the amount of exercise and activities women do, gravity and age can take its toll on anyone. Also, weight gain and loss can play a factor in the appearance of your breasts. Once your breasts lose their natural elasticity, it’s hard to recover that youthful appearance. Please view our before and after breast lift photos.
In a breast lift procedure, Dr. Laufer removes excess breast skin and and elevates the breasts and nipples into a more youthful position. For women who who would like to add volume to their breasts, as well, a breast lift procedure may be combined with breast augmentation in a single procedure using an innovative technique that Dr. Laufer and his colleagues developed. With this technique, saline implants or silicone gel implants are inserted into the submuscular or subfascial spaces. The breast lift itself consists of lifting the breast parenchyma (the gland) and securing it in its lifted position while allowing the skin “envelop” to re-drape itself (unlike other techniques which tighten the breasts by excising the skin excess and closing it under tension). Thus you do not rely on the stretched out skin to be the sole support of the breasts.

The outpatient surgery for a Breast Lift surgery usually takes two to three hours to finish under general anesthesia. As with most surgeries, there is a recovery period that accompanies a breast lift surgery. After the surgery, you are likely to have drains for 2-3 days and you may see some bruising and possibly even a little swelling for a few days. Dr. Laufer will prescribe some medicine to help minimize any discomfort. You can usually return to work in about one or two weeks and resume business as usual. Breast lift surgeries will usually last a very long time. Although, it’s important to note that age and gravity can still take its toll on your breasts.
Your breasts may be swollen and bruised for a few days, but Dr. Laufer will prescribe pain medication to relieve any discomfort. Most women can return to work in one week and resume strenuous exercise in about one month or even earlier when Dr. Laufer advises. Breast lift surgery has a very high satisfaction rate among patients who have undergone the procedure. While the results are typically long-lasting, gravity and aging will continue to effect the appearance of the breast over time.
