Tracy M. Pfeifer MD, MS, FACS

Dr. Tracy Pfeifer is a double board-certified plastic surgeon who has dedicated her life to helping others look and feel their best. After more than two decades of experience, working in Manhattan and the Hamptons of New York, she has now joined the Laufer Institute of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Pfeifer is widely respected as one of the most skilled and innovative surgeons in the industry. She believes we all want to be the best version of ourselves. Her goal is to provide the very best personalized care and aesthetic, natural looking results for each and every patient. As one of a few women plastic surgeons in the country (approximately 10% of board certified plastic surgeons are women), Dr. Pfeifer utilizes her extensive surgical training and expertise with precision and an unparalleled aesthetic eye. She combines compassion and surgical expertise with her understanding of a woman’s body and the changes that occur with childbirth, weight fluctuations and aging. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Pfeifer has been the recipient of numerous awards, recognitions and academic scholarships. Dr. Pfeifer earned her medical degree with honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She was the top surgical student in her medical school class. She completed her 5-year General Surgery residency at the renowned New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. This was followed by her Plastic Surgery residency at the prestigious Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery-NYU Medical Center.

She then pursued advanced fellowship training in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Dr. Pfeifer has authored articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She is a firm believer in education as well as practicing state of the art plastic surgery and treatments. To maintain her cutting edge, she participates in well over 10 educational symposia each year.

BOARD CERTIFICATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS

Dr. Pfeifer is Board Certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. New York Magazine named Dr. Pfeifer one of New York’s “Cutting Edge Plastic Surgeons”. She has been included in the magazine’s Top Doctor issue several times. Dr. Pfeifer is a Castle Connelly top doctor and has been named one of America’s Top Plastic Surgeons for the past several years.

EDUCATOR OF PLASTIC SURGEONS AND RESIDENTS

As an educator, Dr. Pfeifer authors the breast augmentation core teaching curriculum used by plastic surgery residency programs nationwide to teach plastic surgery residents. Dr. Pfeifer is a faculty member of the internationally acclaimed Atlanta Breast Symposium and has directed the live surgery for 22 years. She lectures at the meeting on topics including revision of breast augmentation, prevention of capsular contracture, implant removal and the use of shaped breast implants.

Dr. Pfeifer teaches residents and fellows at Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. As a Board Member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (The Aesthetic Society), Dr. Pfeifer works to fulfill the educational mission of the Society. As the first editor of The Aesthetic Society’s RADAR (readily available digital aesthetic resource), a web-based educational program, Dr. Pfeifer developed educational content to educate plastic surgeons and trainees on current technologies and procedures. In 2018 she was a guest faculty member at the 2018 Toronto Breast Meeting. In 2016 Dr. Pfeifer and a select group of plastic surgeons traveled to Sweden to participate in a forum on shaped implants.

Dr. Pfeifer is known for aesthetic/cosmetic surgery of the breast. Dr. Pfeifer is also recognized for her skill in abdominoplasty and natural results facial rejuvenation with fillers, Sculptra and Botox/Dysport and, when the times comes, blepharoplasty and facelift. Her patients trust her recommendations for skin care and preserving a youthful but natural looking appearance. She is a featured expert in the “Masters of Beauty” book.

Dr. Pfeifer’s expertise in aesthetic breast surgery includes breast augmentation, revision of breast augmentation, natural results augmentation, shaped implants, breast lift and reduction, correction of tuberous breast, inverted nipples and breast asymmetry. She is nationally recognized—as a Castle Connelly Top Doctor and as one of America’s Top Plastic Surgeons—for her expertise in breast augmentation and revision of previous breast surgery. Patients in need of revision are referred to her by her peers from around the country. Dr. Pfeifer was chosen to be an investigator in several FDA breast implant studies, including both round and shaped silicone breast implant studies.

She is considered to be one of New York’s top surgeons (she was named both one of New York’s Top Doctors and Cutting Edge Plastic Surgeons by New York Magazine). She is one of a few plastic surgeons in the United States with extensive experience using the anatomic shaped silicone implants as well as gummy bear implants.

Dr. Pfeifer is a frequent media consultant, providing her expertise in cosmetic plastic surgery. As a guest lecturer on cosmetic surgery topics, she has been featured on national television programs such as Dr. Oz and Fox News and in publications including Town and Country, Allure, Glamour, Teen Vogue TM, New Beauty, the International Business Times and Newsday. She is an expert commentator on the Plastic Surgery Channel as well as Sirius’s Doctor Radio. She served on the Social Media Committee of The Aesthetic Society and is a contributor to The Aesthetic Society’s Facebook live broadcasts.

PROFESSIONAL SOCIETIES AND ACTIVITIES

Dr. Pfeifer plays an active role in the leading national plastic surgery professional societies. She is a Board Member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (The Aesthetic Society) and is a member of the Membership Committee. She recently headed the Society’s Branding Task Force, a multi-year project. Dr. Pfeifer is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). She is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) and the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Pfeifer is very active in her professional societies on the regional and local level as well. She is Past-President and Trustee of the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Pfeifer is a member of the Medical Society of the State of New York and the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.

PHILANTHROPY

Helping others is not just Dr. Pfeifer’s motto with her patients. She is passionate, too, about giving back: She regularly supports the Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch to benefit disadvantaged children in Suffolk County Long Island, the East End Hospice, the American Heart Association and women’s groups including Lucia’s Angels, which provides support to women with breast cancer and their families.

Each year, she and her staff host a Christmas for Kids fundraiser in the Hamptons office to benefit the Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch and provide Christmas presents to families in need on Long Island through the Salvation Army’s Angel Program. Dr. Pfeifer also loves animals and, as a member of The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, she has helped end unnecessary animal testing and animal use in medical training.
